Council 15719 Queen of ANGELS

OUR MISSION

Our Council’s Mission is to assist the clergy, staff, parishioners, and the greater community of Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish in any reasonable way we can. This includes acting as the lead ministry for Parish initiatives, or by helping out other Parish ministries to complete their initiatives. Examples of our Council’s efforts to carry out our mission have included the following activities:

  • Food Drives to gather food and collect donations from our parishioners. Our Council in turn delivers the food we collect to local food banks including Serving People In Need (SPIN) and Catholic Charities of Orange County. We have delivered several thousands of pounds of food and tens of thousands of dollars to these charities.
  • Pancake Breakfasts in an effort to welcome new Parishioners to our community and to encourage closer bonds among our parish community.
  • Helping with aspects of Sunday Masses as requested by the parish clergy.
  • Help with events at OLQA School.
  • Day of Sharing for local ministries for the intellectually disabled.
  • Providing manpower for other ministries within our Parish to accomplish their objectives.
  • Speaker Nights featuring dinner and a notable speaker to allow our parish community to learn more about our parish and its leadership.
  • Drive-Through Family Food Nights meant to give parishioners and parents of children at OLQA School a night off from cooking.

Funds that our Council raises through these and other activities are in turn donated to other charities and needy organizations mostly within our Parish community.

BUILDING A BRIDGE BACK TO FAITH

FAITH

Our commitment to charitable service is just one of the many ways that we express our Catholic faith. We’re here to build a daily bridge back to what matters, for our members and fellow Catholics.

MEMBERSHIP

With 1.9 million members around the world, we have been investing our time, effort, and resources into our values of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism since 1882.

CHARITY

Charity is at the heart of our work. At our local Council, we make cash donations to other needy ministries within our parish community. Some examples of the recipients of our cash donations have included the following:

  • OLQA School, our top donee
  • OLQA Faith Formation
  • Local chapter of Habitat for Humanity, where brother Knights from our Council are involved
  • Helping Hands, an OLQA initiative meant to help the local homeless community
  • Support for seminarians within the Diocese of Orange
  • OLQA Rosary Ministry
  • Obria Medical, founded by OLQA parishioners and meant to assist pregnant women
  • Recent Recipient: Knights of Columbus Ukraine Solidarity Fund

In addition, since the COVID pandemic, our Council has acted as a conduit to collect food and cash donations that are in turn donated primarily to SPIN and Catholic Charities of Orange County. This initiative is ongoing and has become an important part of our charitable mission.

THE WORLD NEEDS MORE KNIGHTS

CARRYING OUT A LEGACY

We come from many places, backgrounds, and stages in our lives, but we are all of one faith. Find out more about what we do.

OUR HISTORY AND HERITAGE

Founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, the Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Conn., and a group of parishioners. Their intent? To bring financial aid and assistance to the sick, disabled, and needy members and their families.

Today, Father McGivney is being considered for sainthood.

LET’S GET STARTED

Knights come from every stage of life, in countless corners of the world. Join us as we celebrate real role models in a world that needs men who lead, serve, protect and defend.
